best way to sell my timeshare?
I have a 1 bedroom with Trendwest and I need to sell it, due to my divorce. What is the best way to sell it and how it works?

If I were you I would call Trendwest or visit their site listed below. Most of these timeshare places will resell your timeshare for you. I listed several sites including Trendwest. You can also advertise it yourself on sites like Craigslist.com and maybe ebay.com Your timeshare is treated like Real Estate and you can sell it to whoever you want at whatever price they will pay. As long as they understand that there is a yearly Maintenance fee. and that they are only getting 1 or 2 weeks out of the year to stay there, depending on which you purchased yourself.
Well, unfortunately I can answer this question with too much experience! We tried to sell our timeshare when my husband lost his job since we were trying to save as much money as possible. Here is what we found. Most places will ask you for money upfront (any where from $400 – 800) – this is a scam – they then proceed to list your timeshare on their website and it could sit there forever they don’t care.
Next up – you can list with a timeshare real estate agent like: http://www.timeshareresalepros.com/ They will not charge you up front fees, however, they generally take 25% of the sale price. So, if you own your timeshare outright or don’t owe much- this is the best way we found to sell it.
Otherwise – you can try to rent it out for the time you have it.
Timeshares are a racket if you ever need to get rid of it! Good luck.
If there is a mail box or a community bulleting board at your home resort, you can put a “For sale” sign. This will pressure the developer specially if they sell it for $20,000 USD and you offer it for $5,000. Sometimes on the fine print of some sale agreements says that the developer has the first right to buy if your place is ever sold. I have heard of developers paying the money (as long as is not too much) just to take the sign out.
To resale or rent a timeshare is a hard task, the basic rule is not to pay money up-front, don’t be another victim of a scam.
Unfortunately over 50% of people that really need to sale their timeshare falls for this resale scams where they charge money upfront and less than 10% of them use their only real option wich is to post it or offer it trough free advertising options as much, and as many sites as they can (it is ok to pay a few dollars to post in a great place but no more that $20 to $30).
Timeshares do not have resale value and in most situations you would take a loss in what you paid for, as they resale for less than $2000 USD.
