how can i go about selling a timeshare that I still owe on?
I got a timeshare in 2009 and still have not used it…I am trying to sell it, but I am not sure which companies are legit…I was told selling it is like selling a house, and I should not have to pay anything up front…HELP!!!

do not sell it–swap for a recreational place you would like to go to.
otherwise, you may certainly sell it………if you can find a buyer. 2 firms do help to sell them
and they do find UNWARY sellers who pay front fees which are IMMORAL.
u can also swap it for anything but you would still owe the fee on it.
You can’t As long as you have an outstanding loan no company will accept it. Even those paid in full are impossible to sell. There are Hundreds on Ebay selling for as little as $1
Good luck. The market for timeshares is microscopic. NEVER pay upfront.
I’d recommend paying off the loan…get another loan to pay off the timeshare loan if you have to. If you are not going to use your timeshare, it’s best to get it free and clear. You’ll at least have a worst-case option – going to a timeshare transfer service aka timeshare relief company.
For a fee, this company will transfer the timeshare out of your name so that you are free from any future financial payments related to your timeshare. Why do they charge a fee? Because it’s really hard to get rid of a timeshare and many people spend thousands more trying to get rid of it.
You can try to sell if you are patient and wait for a buyer that may never show up. If you go this route, list your timeshare at a website where there are other timeshare owners like redweek.com or tug2.net. That’s the only way to sell it. No one else will buy a timeshare sight unseen.
