Unfortunately, the timeshare resales market is in such a shape that most sellers have to pay to get rid of their timeshares. Even if you use eBay, they charge a $35 listing fee and a charge once it sells. Craigslist is another source but also requires a small listing fee these days.
Even charities may or may not take your timeshare. They do not want to have to pay the maintenance fees much as individual owners don’t. They do a "market analysis" to see if you have a timeshare that might be worth something, but it’s really to have you get onto their mailing list.
All the "free" places to list your timeshare may be smaller in the amount of money you spend to get rid of your timeshare, but the true cost is the time and effort you spend with all the legwork. Plus, you’ll do the waiting game for a buyer that may never appear. Then, you’ll have to spend more money on the maintenance fee and possibly special assessment of the timeshare you will not use.
A reputable timeshare transfer company will take your timeshare off your hands for a service fee, but you’ll be done with it. But if you’d rather go through the pain of trying to do it yourself, and learning the hard way like so many others, go ahead.
No all companies charge you. You can search online and donate the timeshare but only if no mortgage exists. The Kidney Foundation is one charity that accepts them. Or put it on ebay for $10
If there is a mail box or a community bulletin board at your home resort, you can put a “For sale” sign. This will pressure the developer specially if they sell it for $20,000 USD and you offer it for $5,000. Sometimes on the fine print of some sale agreements says that the developer has the first right to buy if your place is ever sold. I have heard of developers paying the money (as long as is not too much) just to take the sign out.
To resale or rent a timeshare is a hard task, the basic rule is not to pay money up-front, don’t be another victim of a scam.
Unfortunately over 50% of people that really need to sell their timeshare falls for these resale scams where they charge money upfront and less than 10% of them use their only real option which is to post it or offer it trough free advertising options as much and as many sites as they can (it is ok to pay a few dollars to post in a great place but no more that $20 to $30).
Timeshares do not have resale value and in most situations you would take a loss in what you paid for, as they resale for less than $2000 USD.

If your timeshare is worth anything, Robbie Pickel will buy it from you. He works for a company called IA Vacations. I called, left a message and he called me back, same day. I paid RIP OFF COMPANY http://www.vacationregister.com hundreds of dollars to list my timeshare with a "guarantee" of sorts that they would sell it within 6 months. They stopped answering my emails and changed their phone numbers so the timeshare that IA Vacations just took out of my name is still listed with vacation register because they are a horrible company!
Give Robbie a call and hopefully your timeshare is worth some money.
His number is (866) 660-3009
