My mom got talked into purchasing a "discounted vacation" over the phone through a company called Great Vacation Destinations. The trip is a few days in Orlando, FL and then a couple days on a cruise to the Bahamas, followed by a couple more days in Ft Lauderdale. The catch is that you have to go to a timeshare presentation for BlueGreen timeshares. And there are bonus vacations that you can take to Las Vegas and Cancun etc later on.
She now regrets the decision to buy, but has already shelled out a good chunk of money which I don’t think she can get back, so we are going to go check it out. I have heard lots of people’s opinions that all these types of offers are scams, and I would tend to give the same opinion, but is there anyone out there that has actually gone on this vacation with this company and could report on their experiences and/or offer any advice to ensure that the trip is at least a success, even if it’s not the great deal that they sell you on over the phone. Thanks!
Has anyone ever received a Florida Vacation from Synergy Resort Marketing Group? They’ll give me a trip to Orlando, FL, Daytona Beach, and a cruise to the Bahamas for 8 and I have to go to a timeshare presentation. Is it a scam?
We are planning to go to Orlando in December, and recently heard that Westgate Resorts was offering seven nights at their one-bedroom condos for 9 total (including tax). My husband thinks it’s too good to be true. All we have to do is attend a 90 minute presentation the day before we leave Orlando. I have already put down a deposit and it is refundable within 14 days. I don’t think it’s a hoax, but know I am starting to second guess myself.
We did a timeshare presentation in Las Vegas to get two free dinners at a buffet, as well as two show tickets. The people were very pushy but that didn’t bother me because I just pushed right back and told them I wasn’t interested. Have you had any experience with the timeshare presentations? Is there any fine print that I need to be aware of?
We recently did a timeshare presentation in Vegas, but decided not to buy. What we did get instead was a brochure promising a 5 day / 4 night stay in Hawaii. Nowhere in the brochure does it say we have to sit through another timeshare presentation, which the people in Las Vegas assured us. However, when I just called to book, they said we had to. Do any of you have any experience with this? Thanks for your input.
I am considering buying a discounted 4 days vacation package for Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I must go to a timeshare presentation to get it at a very cheap price. I was wondering in they want me to bring paycheck stubs or copies of income taxes to prove that I make more than the required amount per year (i.e 50 grand). Or they just take people’s words for it? Thanks.
I am not playing on buying, I really just want to take advantage of the cheap vacation.
We are loyal customers to Hilton and always enjoy our stay. I just called to ask about booking a view days in Orlando to take our kids to theme parks and they offered us 3 nights at the Hilton Grand Seaworld (super nice) for -a 0 savings! Ofcourse, we have to go to a timeshare presentation. We actually are interested in learning about buying one but know we are not ready to buy right now. They told me the only thing is that we both have to attend and can bring our kids. I’m nervous and don’t know what to expect. Help!
We are trying to find a legitimate company that offers the free trip for 2 or 3 days if we agree to sit through a timeshare presentation. They used to come in the mail all the time, but I haven’t received one in a long time. We have gone a few times years back and was well worth it – despite the timeshare thing. Almost bought one in Florida.
Anyhow, does anyone have any info? Not just hearsay, but maybe something you’ve used recently? We are open as to where, but Florida or NC would be nice.
I did a Google search, but couldn’t really find what I’m looking for. We don’t want to pay for a short stay if we are going to let them try to sell us something while we’re there, and that’s mostly what I found online.
Yesterday,We went to this presentation after we have received several calls about the free gifts. This was our first and worst.when we attend the timeshare presentation, we were treated like dirt by the staff. We were insulted on numerous occasions at the end of the presentation (which for us took roughly 3 1/2 hours) when we refused to buy. We went there with 4 year old kid…he cried that he was hungry. We told to him that we were leaving….But he asked us that why you guys are coming behind me if you are not ready to buy!!!..we are still upset. They conveniently forgot to provide us the gift they promised at the offset, and only after requesting to speak with several parties, did we get our gift.So if any body has an idea about going to this kind of presentation(especially for the free gifts)..please think about it .
I just purhcased a package deal for 3 nites and 4 days in Destin,FL and they told me all I have to do is attend the sales presentation (90 minute) and i would get my 9 + back for attending it and I didn’t have to buy. Also do they run credit checks or require proof of income at the timeshare presentation? I have one day to cancel this deal and get my money back so please respond quickly. I also purchased a 2nd vacation pkg to San Antonio for
I went to a timeshare presentation and in the end I received a couple voucher’s to send for two trips, both paying airfare and hotel stay.
I am in need of some money. Can I sell them? Will I, or whoever buys that from me, be in trouble?
Thanks.
