What is the catch on the Wyndham Resorts vacation package and timeshare presentation?
I just purhcased a package deal for 3 nites and 4 days in Destin,FL and they told me all I have to do is attend the sales presentation (90 minute) and i would get my 9 + back for attending it and I didn’t have to buy. Also do they run credit checks or require proof of income at the timeshare presentation? I have one day to cancel this deal and get my money back so please respond quickly. The announcement makes it look as though you will get something valuable for nothing. But that is not true. You will have to earn it by sitting through a long sales pitch, often of more than two hours, and frequently using high pressure tactics. For that, you will earn the cheapest of the "gifts" listed.
They should not run a credit check and and please do not provide your credit card info or SSN
I would be really careful about signing a timeshare contract (not sure they do any background check) but they ask you qustions.Often you are required to pay yearly maintenance fees ($$$) Often they are very high pressure—-You can find timeshares on the secondary market from brokers for alot less money but still have fees connected==good luck
My wife and I went to one of these presentations once. You really don’t have to buy anything to get these special deals from them, but if you don’t like high pressure situations then I would recommend not going. The guy that was giving us the presentation told us right up front that he would pressure us into buy any of the timeshares, well that was bull. We were interested in the presentation, but it was too pricey for us at this time. We told him that and he kept on trying to find a way to sell us. Just know up front they are trying to sell you something even though they say you don’t have too.
I purchased this same package from Wyndham. When I booked my rental car they transfered me to Wyndham for the promotion. Mine is going to be the Wisconsin Dells though.
There is no scam with this. Just don’t buy the expensive timeshare when you are at the presentation. You will get your money back in full – cash, as promised. You should also receive some other benefits as well (coupons, etc).
Give them 90 minutes to "present". Politely decline and tell them you are not interested. If they keep pushing (and they will) just keep repeating you are just not interested and would like your money so you can go.
It is a numbers game with these timeshare developers – some people will buy, some will not. Don’t be surprised if the timeshare salesman gets rude or tries to make you feel guilty for attending the timeshare with no intention of buying. They try every trick in the book. Just DON’T buy anything from them.
You can buy Wyndham resale very inexpensively. Search eBay for "Wyndham timeshare" and you will see the results.
Oh, by the way, there is a common joke said by people who have bought timeshares on the resale market:
Question: How do you know when a timeshare salesman is lying?
Answer: When his lips are moving.
PS. No timeshare presentation that I have ever been to (Hilton and Marriott) have ever wanted proof of income or asked me for my SS# for a credit check. It would be a very cold day in hell the day they woud get either one of those things from me too!
